Meeting Minutes for November 2015

The November 2015 meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by club President Kevin Stremlau.  He welcomed a big crowd of 55 members and 4 guests. Visiting tonight were Jimmy Lowry (‘12 Torch Red), Joe Lowry (’94 Red), Jerry & Shirley Metz (’61 & ‘05 Magnetic Red) and Rick & Vicky Turley (’63 split window). Welcome all and hope you come back. Kevin wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to those celebrating in November.

Secretary’s Report – The October 12, 2015 meeting minutes as printed in the Newsletter were reviewed with no corrections. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept. 

Treasurer’s Report – MICC Treasurer, Mourina Sweet, gave the report for September including a detailed breakdown of all transactions. A copy was passed around for everyone to review.  There were no questions. A motion was made and second. Treasurer’s report was approved as presented. It is available for members to review at any time by contacting Mourina.

Activities & Apparel – Elaine went over upcoming events. On Dec 11, 2015 is our trip to Payless Shoes on University with 25 kids from Pleasant Hill School to buy new shoes. This is an annual club fundraiser where we buy shoes for needy children from that school. Dec 12 is the annual Christmas Party at Kickapoo Creek Winery. Cocktails at 6:00 pm, dinner at 7:00 pm, with be a holiday show. Elaine showed our new members the club jacket and explained that Gary Uftring pays half the cost. If you want to sign up for outings and events, please contact Elaine. For a tentative schedule of events, we encourage you to review the full list of activities in newsletter, or on the MICC website.

Membership – Tracy Adamson asked members to check their current information on the membership list so she can update the membership directory. 12 new members joined in October giving us a total of 144 members strong. We are losing 3 that have been in memoriam. 6 others are not rejoining. President Stremlau set a new membership goal of 200.

Newsletter – Kevin thanked Mourina for a job well done with the newsletter. Mourina stated the submission deadline for newsletter information is the 25th of the month. Please remember to provide a picture of your car for the cover of the newsletter, or photos of club events or trips. Send them to both Mourina and Kevin. We are missing approximately 47 photos of members/cars.

Webmaster – Not present – no report.

Governor’s Report – Sandy Arnold had nothing new this month. She will be attending a meeting November 14 & 15th.

Old Business – By-Laws revision to consider inclusion of proposed Condolences Procedure and Nomination Committee Procedure will be addressed after the first of the year by the by-laws committee. Elaine reminded everyone the club is selling Dining Tour coupon books. They’re available for $30.00 each as a club fundraiser to support the St. Jude Corvette Drive. The club gets $10 for each book sold. Books are available thru Dec 31, 2015 and can be used until Oct 31, 2016. We’ve sold 50 and raised $500. Fantastic!

Kevin stated that he did a personal presentation to the St. Jude Drive Board requesting official sponsorship recognition for the MICC based on a club donation of $1000+. John Haase, advisor to the Drive Board, commented the proposal was well received. Kevin mentioned he was investigating setting up an MICC account in the new online (internet) fundraising St. Jude database to further increase our club’s total sponsorship contribution. This would allow members who cannot participate in the drive to make a tax deductible donation and have it recognized as a MICC donation. The 2016 St. Jude Drive goal is to have 50 Corvettes participate. Let’s help make that happen!!!

Sandy Arnold made a beautiful Christmas quilt, which will be raffled off at the December club meeting. Money raised will go to the Pleasant Hill School shoe fund. Tickets are $5 each, or 3 for $10.

New Activities committee will meet to launch activities for 2016. 

Program – none.

Announcements – There is a St. Jude Drive event December 12, 2015 at Brasky’s on Knoxville Ave in Peoria.

Trivia and 50/50 – Trivia question: What year was the first keyless start in the Corvette.  A) 2002   B) 2003   C) 2004     D) 2005. 

The correct answer was D) 2005 and was worth $40. Dennis Dunn selected the correct answer and donated his winnings to the shoe fund. Thanks Dennis.

The 50/50 drawing, $56.00 tonight, was won by Harry Sweet. Harry donated it back to the Shoe Fund.  Thanks Harry.

Adjournment – A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:58 PM.
