Meeting Minutes for September 2015

The September 2015 meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by club President Kevin Stremlau. He welcomed a big crowd of 57 members and 7 guests. Guests tonight were Todd & Patty Sage, Bill & Pam Wallinger, Frank Merill, Jim Ortiz, and Buddy Turner. Welcome, hope you return.  Kevin wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to members celebrating in September.One additional Anniversary noted was, Roger & Marilyn Carls on September 15th. It was there 43rd. Congratulations!

Secretary’s Report – The August 10, 2015 meeting minutes as printed in the Newsletter were reviewed with no corrections. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes as presented.  

Treasurer’s Report – MICC Treasurer, Mourina Sweet, gave the report for August including a detailed breakdown of all transactions. A copy was passed around for everyone to review. There were no questions, motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. It is available for members to review at any time by contacting Mourina.

Activities & Apparel – Elaine went over upcoming events. Bob Patten reminded the club for the need of two more convertibles for the Pekin Marigold Festival. If you want to sign up for outings and events, please contact Elaine. For a tentative schedule of events, we encourage our members to review the full list in our club newsletter, or on the MICC website under Activities at.  

Membership – Bill & Pam Wallinger, Frank Merill & Buddy Turner asked to join tonight. The vote for each was unanimous! Jim Ortiz’s membership payment was completed. He was voted in last month. Congratulations and welcome to Mid-Illinois Corvette Club!! This now brings our membership to a total of 132! MICC is ranked #9 in the NCCC Midwest Region. 2016 Membership Dues are due by October 1, 2015. To facilitate on time payment of membership dues to NCCC we really need payment absolutely no later than the Oct membership meeting. After Oct 31, there is a $20 per person late fee, payable by the member who is paying late, to the NCCC. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. It was also noted that new members are eligible to vote for 2016 election.

Governor’s Report – Sandy Arnold attended the Midwest Region Governor’s meeting this past weekend in St. Louis. She stated that Eckler’s is offering a 12% discount the week of Oct. 4 thru Oct. 11 2015. Promo code: NCCC2015. Thank you Sandy for your leadership with NCCC.

Old Business – Ballot’s for 2016 officer elections were available starting at tonight’s meeting. Each ballot must be signed for. After tonight, all remaining ballots will be mailed. They can either be turned into the ballot box at the Oct. 12th meeting, or if returned by mail, they must be post marked by October 15th.

New Business – Past member Carol Beecher has knitted stocking caps, scarfs, and mittens and donated them to be taken to Pleasant Hill School. Sandy Arnold is making a Christmas Quilt to be raffled beginning at the October meeting with the winner announced at the Christmas Party. Proceeds will be donated to the shoe fund. Elaine Kasky presented the Dining Discount Coupon Books that the club is now selling as a designated fund raiser for the St Jude Drive. The coupon books sell for $30 each and the club gets $10 per book sold. We hope to raise $500-$1000. The objective is to support our club in becoming an officially recognized sponsor of the St. Jude Corvette Drive on an annual basis.

Program – A video of the club trip to the Z-Best Cafe in Sheffield, IL was presented by Jim Gehrig. It was taped by Jim’s son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Stacy. We thank you all for your time and work.

Announcements – Wristbands and lanyards are still available for sale. Robin Jones provided a poster of all corvette body styles for free. Thank you Robin! Steve Klimstra has a C-4 “inside” car cover that he’s offering for free with a donation to the shoe fund.

Trivia and 50/50 – Trivia question: Corvette production started in the new St. Louis plant Dec. 28, 1953.  How many Corvettes were built in that plant before Jan. 1, 1954? 
A) 9    B) 14   C) 8   D) 10

The correct answer was B) 14, and worth $20. An incorrect answer from David Bowles will make trivia worth $30 next month.    
The 50/50 drawing of $51 tonight was won by John Morris. John donated it back to the Shoe Fund.  Thanks John. 

Adjournment – A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:08 PM.
