The June 13, 2016 meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by club President Kevin Stremlau. There were 70 members and 8 guests present. The guests tonight were Steve Lichtenstein, Jeff Long, Kevin & Cheri Smith, Rick & Vickie Turley, and Randy Beeman & Helen Stafford. Welcome all!! Kevin stated that the MICC always delivers in 1st class fashion. MICC is an official sponsor of the St. Jude Drive, with the majority of the drivers coming from our membership. In the Louie-Louie Parade, which kicks off the Car Show, 5 of the 6 corvettes were MICC members and led with our club banner. The Car Show sponsor, Uftring Chevy, provided us with media support and a great venue. Thanks to all those who sponsored trophies, worked the show and helped in any way. The final numbers will be announced at the July meeting. He wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all members who are celebrating in June. His final statement: Hit the road and have fun!

He asked for volunteers to work at the German American Society Picnic on July 10 at Hickory Grove Park. There will be a fenced off area for Corvette parking, all proceeds from the food sales will go to the St Jude Drive. I Spy A Wish is scheduled for Sat, July 16. Jim suggested the club donate $80 to the first 2 teams that sign up – a motion was made, voted on and passed. Autocross in Rantoul is June 18th, and Bloomington Gold starts on June 23rd. Kevin mentioned that there are still rooms left for Fri & Sat, get with him if you need more information. The trip to Bowling Green is July 21st – 23rd, all hotel rooms that are not reserved will be cancelled on Wed, June 15. The Quad Cities/Circa 21 trip is August 13. Vettes on the River is August 27th. Check the calendar for all upcoming events, and those still in the planning stage. Jim will be sending a survey out to determine if there is enough interest in making a trip to the Air Force Museum in Ohio.
Membership – Tracy Adamson signed up 6 new members at the meeting: Kevin & Cheri Smith, Randy Beeman & Helen Stafford, and Rick & Vickie Turley. This brings our membership total to 160 in 90 households!

Webmaster – Jim had 8 x 10 photos of members and their cars taken before recent trips. He asked for a $5.00 donation.
Governor’s Report – Governor Sandy Arnold reported that she still needs 4 volunteers for this weekend in Rantoul. From this past weekend in Quincy, the club received a check for $400 for their participation in the Great River Auto Cross. There will be a NCCC convention in Bowling Green in 2017, more details to follow. She also reminded everyone about the NCCC Raffle. Tickets are $50 each with a limit of 2,000 tickets being sold. The winning ticket is a certificate valued at $54,000 towards a new Corvette or a cash offer of $40,000. Sandy was invited and accepted to the NCCC Charity Committee.
Program – John Haase was the guest speaker tonight and gave an interesting presentation “Takin a Little Ride” on his adventures at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School. For anyone who has purchased a new Corvette, you can get a two-thirds discount to attend the school. John highly recommended taking advantage of the program. You drive the track in a car like your own so you are familiar with it. His wife even took a spin around the track with the instructor! Sounds like a fun time!
Old Business – At Corvette Adventures this past weekend, our club won 1st place in representation, which is a free 4 day stay in a 3 bedroom chalet at the resort. It will be discussed later who will win this. Connie Durham reminded everyone about the 4th of July parade. Everyone will meet at Kartville at 9:30 to line up. Please bring plenty of candy to throw during the parade. After the parade, those that are interested will go to the 50’s diner in Metro for lunch.
New Business – Kevin stated that he needed 3 volunteers for the nominating committee to call each active member to see if they are interested in running for an office in the club. The 3 that volunteered were Pam Morris, Luanne Stremlau, and Bruce Adamson. Those that are interested will have their name put on the ballot, and anyone can be nominated at the July meeting. At the September meeting you will sign for a ballot which will need to be returned by mid October. The new officers will be announced at the November meeting.
Announcements – Kevin reminded everyone to check the MICC website & calendar frequently as changes are made often – adding new pictures, updating events, etc. If anyone is interested in going to Bloomington Gold and has any questions, contact Kevin.
Trivia and 50/50 – Trivia question: In what year were nylon belted tires first available on the Corvette? Prior to that year, only cotton ply tires were offered. A) 1956 B) 1958 C) 1960 D) 1962. The correct answer was C) 1960, and was worth $10. Ed O’Neill answered correctly and donated it back to the shoe fund. Thanks Ed!
The 50/50 drawing was for $77.00 tonight and was won by Jim Lowry, who donated it back to the shoe fund. Thank you Jim!
