The September 12, 2016 meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by club President Kevin Stremlau. There were 63 members and 2 guests present. The guests tonight were Dave & Chris Cooper. Welcome all!! Kevin asked members that choose to socialize during the meeting, please move to the waiting room or go outside, out of respect for others. The club has had an awesome summer, but it isn’t over yet. So sign up and join the fun!! He wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all members who are celebrating in August, with special congratulations to Gary & Kay Uftring on their 50th anniversary, and he & his wife Luanne who are celebrating their 40th.
Secretary’s Report – The August 2016 meeting minutes as printed in the Newsletter were reviewed with no corrections. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept.
Treasurer’s Report – MICC Treasurer, Mourina Sweet, gave the report for July 31, 2016 including a detailed breakdown of all transactions. There were no questions. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept as presented.
Activities – Activities Chairman Jim Gehrig gave an overview of the activities that are planned for the near future: Mid-America Funfest September 15th – 18th, 4 events on September 24th include the St. Jude Run/Walk at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, St. Jude event at Bass Pro Shop in East Peoria, the Rt. 66 Mother Festival in Springfield, IL, and the Westminster Village Car Show in Bloomington, IL. Oct 1st is Avanti’s on Knoxville then to Metro cruise in, Oct 8th is a cruise to The Drake in Burlington, IA, and Oct 15th is a surprise event in Morton sponsored by Tom Stanessa. Check the website for all the activities that are planned.
Membership – Jessica Lowry was added as a new member and brings our membership to 174 in 97 households. Club membership renewal is due & can be paid to Tracy at the meeting.
Newsletter – Please make sure all information for the Newsletter is sent to Mourina by the 25th of the month.

Governor’s Report – Sandy Arnold went to the Governor’s meeting in St. Louis the prior weekend. Tickets for the St. Jude Raffle can still be purchased for $50 each with a limit of 2,000 tickets being sold. The raffle prize is a certificate valued at $54,000 for a new Corvette or a cash offer of $40,000. The full Governor’s report can also be found on the web. Sandy asked that all members make sure that Tracy has your accurate information on file.
Program – None.
Old Business – The apparel committee had samples of the new shirts & hats that can now be ordered. Visors for the ladies will be available at the next meeting. They ask that you pay for them when you order them. The club still has a number of jackets for sale – please contact Elaine Kasky if you are interested. Dining Out books can be purchased for $30 and can be used immediately. Pam Morris asked for volunteers for “Ringing the Bells” for the Salvation Army on Nov 12, 19 or Dec 10. Sign-up sheets were available.
New Business – There were several older apparel items that someone donated back to the club, they can be purchased with a donation to the club. The send off for the St. Jude Motorcycle Ride is on Sept 15th at Walters Bros. Bring your corvette and show support for the riders! Connie Durham invited everyone to “Kickin’ It Country” for St. Jude on Sunday, Oct 23. Flyers were available & more information will be sent to you. The club Christmas party is planned for Saturday, Dec 3rd at Weaver Ridge at 6:00. Reservations and payment ($43 per person) can be made to Moe. It was brought up about eliminating the Trivia Question to shorten the meetings. A motion was made to donate the $120 annual cost directly to the shoe fund. A vote was taken and the motion was not passed. Trivia Question will remain on the agenda.
Announcements – The ballots for voting for board positions were available. If you did not sign for/receive a ballot, it will be mailed to you. If not returned at the Oct meeting, it must be postmarked by Oct 15th. The results will be announced at the Nov meeting.
Trivia and 50/50 – Trivia question: The “GM Mark of Excellence” sticker was placed on the inside driver’s door jamb of the Corvette only one year. What was the year?
A) 1963 B) 1965 C) 1967 D) 1971.
The correct answer was C) 1967, and was worth $10. Dick Hayes answered correctly and donated his winnings to the shoe fund. Thanks Dick!
The 50/50 drawing was for $66.00 tonight and was won by John Morris, who donated his winnings to the shoe fund. Thank you John!
